Should Tobacco Smoking Be A Public Health Issue - 2572 Words

In the essay I am going to discuss about one public health issue that has reached the Australian government policy agenda, I would also be talking about the policy reactions to this issue by the federal government. Here I am going to write about tobacco smoking as a public health issue that has caused the federal government to get involved on the issue of smoking and policies that has put into place to minimize/curb its hazards. Cigarette smoking is a dangerous habit that is every addictive and causes health problems not only to those who are involved in the habit but also to those who are around them. Well besides the fact that it can kills as mentioned above, it stains the teeth, it makes clothes, car, and home smell like cigarettes. It also makes non-smokers uncomfortable and bothers them because perceive/inhale the smoke too and studies have shown that perceive smokers are more at risk to tobacco smoking. People who don’t smoke don’t have to inhale tobacco smoke. Any smoke that is emitted by a cigarette that is not inhaled goes into the air. Once these toxins are in the air, they are free to corrupt non-smoker lungs too. Second hand smoke it is called.
